Nick Bradshaw MCIHT CMILT

Nick Bradshaw MCIHT CMILT

Director

I formed Connect in 2007 along with Colin White.  I am driven to deliver a high quality service, and try to bring my personality, and own way of doing things to projects.

I lead the Transport Planning team, and have overall responsibility for Connect, being the main contact for most of our key clients, as well as supporting others when required.

I provide pre-planning and feasibility stage advice, and assist with designing developments to maximise planning prospects.  I support others in the Connect team to produce supporting planning information, devise our strategy to overcome planning objections, and undertake negotiations with local authorities.  I act as an expert witness for appeals.  My role also includes quality control of all documents which we produce to support planning applications, and to ensure that we have the correct number of properly trained individuals to deliver an effective service.  My door is always open for colleagues and clients, both existing and new.

Director

I have been at Connect for 16 years, starting the business with Nick Bradshaw in 2007. In that time, I have largely been responsible for building and managing our Highway and Infrastructure Design Team, but have also been supporting my Transport Planning Team colleagues with conceptual and feasibility design work. The large part of my career has been connected with providing infrastructure for development projects, but in my early days, I worked on some large government funded highway schemes, giving me a solid foundation in the principles of good highway engineering.

Outside of work, I like to further explore my practical nature, doing DIY projects and improving my recently acquired 52 year old Triumph TR6.

Fun Fact: When I was a small boy, I liked drawing roads with chalk in the back garden for my many matchbox cars. Little did I know then where this would lead.

I joined Connect in 2010 after spending most of my career working in the public sector for The Highways Agency and in a local authority, which provided me with a sound understanding of authorities’ expectations, and I now have gained over 20 yearsā€™ experience working in highway engineering in office and on-site positions.

During my time at Connect I have worked on Section 278 & 38 schemes in the various development sectors including retail & residential, project managing highway schemes from planning permission through the detailed design stages up to completion & formal adoption.

Engaging in different scales and types of projects has allowed me to obtain and expand my knowledge associated with transport planning, primarily through the production of technical reports including, but not limited to, Transport Statements, Transport Assessments and Travel Plans.

Sustainability is one of my many interests and one which I am able to explore through my role as a transport planner.
