We are very pleased to have successfully completed a challenging design and build contract with Gallagher Group to construct a new road and signal controlled junction on the A20 in Folkstone, Kent.

EuroTunnel junction designed by Connect Consultants

We were appointed by Kent County Council and EuroTunnel with funding from central government to construct a new signal-controlled junction connecting the EuroTunnel approach road to the A20. The aim of the scheme is to enable freight traffic to be directed to off-site waiting areas at times of congestion and to provide a safe means of egress for vehicles which mistakenly leave the M20 at the Eurotunnel exit and which would otherwise have no choice but to enter the EuroTunnel toll booths.

Connect had already developed a good working relationship with Kent County Council through our work on Sittingbourne town centre redevelopment, and had worked successfully with Gallagher on a residential development in Burgess Hill. The brief was to design the scheme and construct the road and junction within a challenging timescale, which was achieved within six months, and the road was brought into use in Spring 2021.
